Fuella and Fortescue have agreed to combine their separate green hydrogen and ammonia projects into a larger project to be developed at Sundsmarka in Hemnes. The projects to be combined are 260 and 300 MW respectively, resulting in a 560 MW plant.
Fuella will take responsibility for the development based on Fortescue’s sale of its project company.
– Fuella has great faith in green ammonia as a zero emission fuel for shipping and other hard-to-abate sectors that need to decarbonise, says Cornel Russi, Managing Director Project Development.
He continues:
– Joining the projects allows us to develop one large instead of two smaller ones in Hemnes. That entails a significant reduction of environmental footprint, production costs and the need for infrastructure development.
– Fortescue is proud to have taken this large- scale green ammonia project through the first critical phases. Green hydrogen and green ammonia are key climate solutions and Fortescue will maintain an ongoing interest in the project’s successful development, says Project Director Gabriela Celin.
